The McCleskey Family in Georgia
A Narrative, Historical Account Compiled by Rev. Walter Scott McCleskey, Ret.

*Prepared by Carey Michael McCleskey

This long awaited book is a modern and more comprehensive revision of the now classic A Partial Account of the McCleskey Family in Georgia (1962). It exhaustively documents many generations of Georgia McCleskeys, including those who moved on to the states of Alabama, Mississippi and Texas. Many generations of Georgians descended through James McCleskey, David Henderson McCleskey and Thaddeus Henderson McCleskey are documented in this account. It also includes a comprehensive account of descendants of James Rhea McCleskey, son of James--the Revolutionary War soldier.

We are so proud that "McBook" got what we consider to be rave reviews in Ken Thomas's genealogy column in a recent publication of The Atlanta Journal/Constitution.

The Book Committee has investigated a softcover printing of what we fondly call "McBook", and we finally have a price and description and shipping date. Through much deliberation and discussion with the original team, we have decided to have quality copies of the material available for shipment upon receipt of payment, and to keep the price reasonable for those who are mostly just interested in the information about our family.

Here are details:

  • Printed on 60# paper, both sides, numbered and indexed as originally published
  • All pages 3-ring punched for insertion into a binder (about 1-1/4" thick, binder not included)
  • Covers printed on stock, not punched so they may be inserted into the clear vinyl sleeve of a binder.
  • Each book will be shrink-wrapped to protect it during shipment
  • Total cost per book $33.00 (Shipped book rate)
  • Will ship upon receipt of your check

*The McCleskey Family would like to recognize the efforts of Mr. Carey Michael McCleskey in preparation of the manuscript for publication. He is responsible for taking notes, historical documents, photographs, and vital statistics from archives to publisher. This was a monumental task, undertaken while balancing a career at NASA with his responsibilities as a husband and father. We are so grateful to him for his contribution.
